Maastricht is a picturesque medieval city located in the southern Dutch province of Limburg. In 1988, TEFAF (The European Fine Art Fair) was launched here at the new MECC venue. TEFAF has since evolved to be regarded as one of the the world’s pre-eminent organizations for viewing fine art, antiques, and design.
TEFAF runs three international Fairs annually – TEFAF Maastricht, NL, which covers 7,000 years of art history; TEFAF New York Spring, focused on modern and contemporary art & design; and TEFAF New York Fall, covering fine and decorative art from antiquity to 1920.
TEFAF gives international dealers the platform to present museum-quality works of all eras and genres to a broad base of collectors, curators and connoisseurs, championing the finest art from across the ages. Presented here is a broad selection of the art that will be displayed at the next New York Fall TEFAF showcase coming up on the 27th October – 31st October, 2018. Also displayed is some of the art from the previous Tefaf exhibitions

Triple Gourd Vase—Kangxi Period,-1662-1722—Vanderverven Oriental Art, TEFAF
The large size of this vase reflects the remarkable technical achievement of the Jingdezhen potters in the early 18th century. It would have been made in parts and then ‘looted’ together before entering the kiln. The failure rate when firing such monumental pieces was very high, making them a rarity and expensive to produce. Such large scale porcelain was no doubt intended for one of the European courts.
